About Qarreo

QARREO is the music duo consisting of Filipino singer/songwriter Amore Be and American drummer/percussionist Joshua “JB” Benson. The word Qarreo means 'courageous' and 'of good cheer' (a.k.a. 'good vibes'). While launching in 2020, overcoming fear has emerged as a natural theme in their songwriting.

Pulling from different influences, their sound is a dynamic blend of both of their musical backgrounds, fusing sounds of rock, blues, electronica, hip hop, dub, and reggae.

"Dancing in the Rain"

This is our first cover song, originally written by Through The Roots.

The idea to cover it came while working on last year's single, "Let Me Stay", that contains a lyric, "we danced in the rain together..."meaning we pushed through tough times and stayed positive. While discussing the meaning behind it with our co-producer, who was taking it too literal, and thought it was corny before understanding it's poetic meaning, we came upon this Through The Roots classic, "Dancing in the Rain". At first, it was just a funny reference from JB as if to say "look, 'you think this is corny too?" The response was quick: "Yo that arpeggiator is bananas!... I love it!"

When Amore heard it, she related to the lyrics so much and suggested we cover it, especially knowing how much we were vibing over the instrumental —which can't be improved upon, so we did a different rendition. It's a very dub-heavy approach to painting a cloudy picture of the world and all it's heaviness, with Amore's soft, ethereal voice peeking out through the sonically layered rainstorm of an instrumental.
